SSL/TLS certificates (the padlock on your site) Print

Every site we host gets a free Let's Encrypt certificate, issued and renewed automatically, so your site shows the padlock and works over https. There is normally nothing for you to do; this page is where you can check it.

Open Account Manager → SSL/TLS Certificates. The Manage certificates tab lists the certificate for your domain, with the names it covers and its expiry date. Certificates last 90 days and are renewed automatically about a month before they expire, so an expiry date a few weeks away is normal.

The ACME settings tab controls the automatic issuing. Enable ACME should be ticked; if a certificate has ever stopped renewing, this is the first thing to check. Leave the key type, provider and the other settings as they are. The Provisioning history tab shows each time a certificate was issued or renewed, which is useful if you want to confirm a renewal went through.

If the Manage certificates tab shows Failed HTTP checks for names such as mail., ftp., pop. or smtp. of your domain, that is expected and harmless: those names are listed because the Hosting Panel offers to cover them, but your email runs elsewhere, so they do not point at this server and no certificate is needed for them. Only a failure for your main domain or its www name matters, and that usually means the domain's DNS does not point at our server yet.

If you have any trouble, raise a ticket and we will sort it out.
