You can take a complete backup of your site whenever you like, keep a copy on your own computer, and restore it yourself. We also take our own daily backup of the whole server and keep a week of copies off-site, so if something goes badly wrong, raise a ticket and we can restore from those.
To make a backup, open Advanced Features → Backup and Restore. On the Create Backup tab leave All Domains selected, tick what you want included and click Backup. For a website, Domains Directory, Subdomains Lists, FTP Accounts, Database Settings and Database Data are the ones that matter; the email options can be left unticked because your email is not hosted on this server. The backup runs in the background and you get a message in the Hosting Panel when it is ready; for a large site that can take a few minutes.
Finished backups are saved in a folder called backups in your account, which you can see in the File Manager. To keep a copy safe, open the File Manager, go into backups, tick the backup file (named backup followed by the date) and click Download. It is worth doing this before any big change to your site, such as a redesign or a major update.
To restore, go to the Restore Backup tab, pick the backup file, tick the parts you want to put back and click Restore. Restoring the Domains Directory replaces your current website files with the ones in the backup, and restoring Database Data replaces the current database, so make a fresh backup first if there is anything recent you might want to keep. Backups you no longer need can be deleted from the backups folder in the File Manager to free up disk space.
If you have any trouble, raise a ticket and we will sort it out.
