Every certificate includes 256-bit encryption, a site seal, free reissues and 99.9% browser compatibility. Warranties are set by the certificate authority, in US dollars.
Logins, contact forms and payment details travel encrypted, so they can't be read on the way.
HTTPS is a confirmed Google ranking signal. A site without it starts at a disadvantage.
Chrome and Firefox mark pages without HTTPS as not secure. A certificate removes the warning.
We raise the renewal before it expires and, once paid, configure, validate and install the new certificate.
One wildcard secures your domain and every subdomain, including the mail. and webmail. ones your hosting uses.
OV and EV certificates confirm the organisation behind the website, not just the domain.
Every website needs SSL, but not every website needs the same certificate. The difference is how much the certificate authority checks before issuing it.

Like a library card: quick to get, very little paperwork, and it doesn't prove who you are.

Like a driving licence: more checks, and more widely trusted as proof of identity.

Like a passport: the most thorough checks, the longest wait and the strongest proof of who you are.
A wildcard certificate is issued to *.example.co.uk, so it protects your main domain and any number of subdomains on one certificate, including ones you add later. Even if you haven't created any subdomains yourself, your hosting uses several for important services:
Wildcards are available with domain validation (RapidSSL and GeoTrust QuickSSL Premium) and organisation validation (GeoTrust True BusinessID).
With an OV or EV certificate, the certificate details show the organisation that was verified, along with the issuing authority, its validity and its expiry date.
Visitors who check can see the website is run by a genuine, registered business and not an imposter site, which is why OV and EV certificates are the usual choice for login pages, online shops and anywhere people share personal or payment details.

A multi-year order lets you pay one discounted price for two or three years of cover, and fixes that price for the whole term.
Browsers limit how long a single certificate can last, so you first receive a certificate for the longest term currently allowed. New certificates are reissued automatically through the rest of your order, with unlimited reissues, so your website stays protected without you doing anything.
Every hosting plan we sell includes free SSL, and for many websites that's enough. A paid certificate makes sense when you want more than the padlock: a wildcard that covers every subdomain with one certificate, a named brand such as DigiCert or GeoTrust, a warranty, or a certificate that confirms your organisation's identity.
The difference between the types is how much is checked before the certificate is issued. Domain validation (DV) only confirms you control the domain, which is why it takes minutes. Organisation validation (OV) also confirms the business is real. Extended validation (EV) is the most thorough check, and takes a day or more.
If your website is hosted with us on cPanel, Plesk or DirectAdmin (all our plans qualify), we install the certificate for you and handle the renewal each year, so it never quietly expires.
It encrypts the connection between your website and your visitor's browser, so information can be sent securely. With SSL your website uses HTTPS and browsers show a padlock.
It does two jobs: it encrypts everything sent between your visitors and your website, and it confirms the website is genuinely the one it claims to be. Without one, browsers warn visitors that your website is not secure.
EV involves the most thorough checks of any certificate. The certificate authority verifies your organisation's legal and operational existence, its contact details and the person applying, which makes EV a good choice where trust matters most.
You pay once for two or three years. You receive a certificate for the longest term browsers currently allow, and it's reissued automatically, free, for the rest of your order.
Yes. Every hosting plan includes free SSL. Buy a paid certificate when you need a wildcard, a well-known brand, a warranty, or business validation.
It secures your domain and any number of subdomains, such as mail.example.co.uk or shop.example.co.uk. Your hosting already uses several subdomains for email and webmail, even if you haven't created any.
Domain validated certificates are issued in minutes. Organisation validated certificates usually take up to a day, and extended validation typically takes one to three days, because the business checks are done by hand.
Yes, if your website is hosted with us. We configure, validate and install it, and do the same at each renewal once the renewal invoice is paid.
Most certificates can be bought for one, two or three years. Choose the term at checkout.
