If your hosting plan includes a free mailbox, there's no email address yet when your plan starts: you create it yourself, and it only takes a couple of minutes. In your client area it shows as "You have created 0 of 1 available accounts" until you do.
Find your email settings
- Sign in to the client area and go to My Services.
- Click your hosting plan. The free mailbox is an add-on to the plan, so it's managed from the plan's page, not from a separate email service. (If you bought Professional Email on its own, click that service instead.)
- In the left-hand menu, under Email Management, you'll see three links: Log in to OX App Suite, Manage Email Accounts and Upgrade.
Create your address
- Click Manage Email Accounts. You'll see "You have created 0 of 1 available accounts" and a Create User button.
- Click Create User and fill in:
- the person's name, and the display name (the name people see when you email them, for example your business name or your own name);
- the part of the address before the @, for example
helloorsarah; - a password, or click Generate for a strong one. Keep it somewhere safe: you'll need it to set up your phone and computer.
- Save. The address is ready straight away.
Under the Create User button there are four tabs you may want later: Email Client Settings (the settings for a mail app), Calendars and Contacts, Usage Instructions and Migration Tool (for bringing mail across from an old provider).
Read your email
- In a web browser: click Log in to OX App Suite in the same Email Management menu. It opens your webmail already signed in.
- On a phone, tablet or computer: follow Setting up your email on a phone or computer.
For webmail features such as folders, the calendar and contacts, the OX App Suite user guide (PDF, from the makers of the software) covers everything in detail.
If email doesn't arrive
For mail to reach your new address, your domain needs the right email records. If your domain uses our nameservers, we add them for you when the plan is set up. If your domain's DNS is managed somewhere else, the records need adding there: see Pointing your domain at your website and email, or ask our support assistant to check your email set-up for you.
Next steps
- Contact form on your website? Change it to send to your new address, so enquiries arrive in the right place.
- Need more addresses, or an alias such as info@ that delivers to your main mailbox? See Creating mailboxes and email aliases. Extra mailboxes are added from the Upgrade link in the same menu.
- Moving from another email provider? See Webmail, out-of-office replies and moving your old email.
