If your website is hosted with us, the best way to buy an extra such as an SSL certificate, Website Security or Website Backup is to add it to your hosting plan from your client area. Bought that way, we set it up on your hosting account for you. Bought on its own, most of these products need you to finish the set-up yourself.
Why add it to your hosting plan?
When a product is added to a hosting plan with us, it's connected to that plan's website automatically:
- SSL certificates are requested, checked and installed on your website for you, and reinstalled automatically when they're renewed.
- Website Security is given the access it needs to scan your website's files and clean up any malware it finds.
- Website Backup is connected to your website and its database, so backups start without you entering any connection details.
- Site Builder and Weebly are ready to publish straight to your hosting plan. They publish to a hosting plan with us, so they can't publish a website without one.
The price is the same either way. The only difference is how much of the set-up you have to do.
Products that don't depend on your website's files, such as SEO Tools and Site & Server Monitoring, work the same whichever way you buy them, but adding them to your plan keeps everything for that website together in one place.
Before you start
- You need an active hosting plan with us. If you don't have one, the add-ons list says "No Addons Available for your Products & Services".
- Each product is added to one hosting plan, and covers that plan's main domain. If you have more than one website, add it to the plan for the website you want it on.
Adding a product to your plan
- Sign in to the client area.
- Open the My Services menu and choose View Available Addons. (You can also go to My Services, where it's listed under Actions on the left, or go straight to the add-ons list.)
- Find the product you want. Each one shows what it is, its price and how often it's billed.
- Use the drop-down on that product to choose which hosting plan it's for. Your plans are listed by name and domain, for example "Web Starter - example.co.uk".
- Click Order Now. Your basket opens with the product listed under your hosting plan.
- If you have a promo code, enter it, then click Checkout and pay as normal.
Once you've paid, we set it up on your hosting account and email you when it's ready, usually within a few minutes.
After it's set up
Your new product appears in My Services, and on your hosting plan's page under Addons. Its page has the button that opens it (for example Log In) and any settings. These articles take you through each one:

Common questions
The product I want isn't in the list
Not every product can be added to every plan. For example, Site Builder and Weebly can't be added to Reseller Hosting plans. If something you expected isn't there, ask us and we'll tell you the best way to get it.
I've already bought it on its own
That's fine: it still works. Follow the set-up steps in the email you were sent, or the article for that product above. If you'd like a hand connecting it to your website, contact our support team.
How is it billed?
It's billed separately from your hosting, at the price shown in the add-ons list, and appears on your invoices as an extra under your hosting plan. Some products, such as SSL certificates, are only sold yearly. You can cancel it on its own without affecting your hosting plan: see Cancelling a service.
I'm buying a new hosting plan as well
Add both to your basket on our website and make sure the product is for the same domain as your hosting plan. We'll add it to the plan for you automatically.
